The Columbus Blue Jackets visit PNC Arena to take the ice with the Carolina Hurricanes in Tuesday NHL action.
The Columbus Blue Jackets look for their second win when the team visits the Carolina Hurricanes. Columbus comes off of a 5-1 loss at the Chicago Blackhawks where neither end of the ice enjoyed much success. The CBJ trailed 3-0 before Sonny Millano scoring midway through the second on assists from Nick Foligno and Gabriel Carlsson.
The explosive Chicago offense received goals from Patrick Kane, Brandon Saad, Jonathan Toews, Jan Rutta and Richard Panik while Saad and Toews each posted assists. Columbus goalie Joonas Korpsalo allowed all five goals in his first start to absorb the loss while Corey Crawford won for the second time with a goal allowed on 33 shots.
The Carolina Hurricanes look for their third consecutive win to open 2017-18 when the Columbus Blue Jackets come to town. Carolina improved to 2-0 with a 54, shootout victory versus the visiting Minnesota Wild. Defense went out the window as these teams traded blows for three periods before Jacob Slavin scored the only goal of the SO to send the Canes to the locker room with smiles.
The balanced Hurricanes attack produced goals from Joakim Nordstrom, Derek Ryan, Noah Hanifin and Victor Rask while Sebastian Aho and Elias Lindholm supplied a pair of assists each. Scott Darling won his first start of the season with four goals given up on 27 shots.
Blue Jackets are 0-4 in their last 4 road games and Blue Jackets are 1-6 in their last 7 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 5-1 in Blue Jackets last 6 Tuesday games. Under is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and under is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and Hurricanes are 1-6 in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Home team is 4-0 in last 4 meetings.
Not much to go on so earl in the season but the home team has fared well in this matchup and I lean that way for now…
