The Hurricanes look to keep their faint playoff hopes alive as they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to town on Saturday.
The Columbus Blue jackets have had a tough season and continue to play out the string in Raleigh on Saturday as they sit second to last in the Eastern Conference and are just a single point up on the Maple Leafs for last. The Jackets are in the mix for the top overall draft pick and may very well end up with a franchise altering piece in the off season but either way they are likely to land a great player that could come in and make an immediate impact with a team struggling to find any consistency. The Jackets will turn to Joonas Korpisalo in this one as he will likely face off against Cam Ward for the Hurricanes.
The Canes meanwhile have surprised a lot of people this season with how well they have played but heading into this one they sit five points back of the Philadelphia Flyers for the final playoff spot in the East with Philly having two hands in hand. Carolina is 34-28-16 this season with their extra time mark leading the league and if not for so many games in which they only managed a single point they could very well have landed a playoff spot in the competitive Eastern Conference. The Canes are coming off a loss to the Rangers but did play well and now get the lowly Jackets in this one and they should have no issues finishing them off.
