The Line: Dallas Stars +110 / Carolina Hurricanes -132 -- Over/Under:
The Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes meet Saturday in NHL action at the PNC Arena.
The Dallas Stars could use a win after losing three of their last four games. The Dallas Stars are averaging 2.5 goals per game and are scoring on 20.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Tyler Seguin leads Dallas with 24 goals, Alexander Radulov has 31 assists and Jamie Benn has 131 shots on goal. Defensively, the Dallas Stars are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 82.6 percent of their opponents power plays. Ben Bishop has given up 76 goals on 996 shots faced and Anton Khudobin has allowed 57 goals on 734 shots. The Dallas Stars have allowed three or less goals in 10 of their last 12 games.
The Carolina Hurricanes look for another win after winning five of their last six games. The Carolina Hurricanes are averaging 2.9 goals per game and are scoring on 16.8 percent of their power play opportunities. Sebastian Aho leads Carolina with 24 goals, Teuvo Teravainen has 34 assists and Justin Williams has 161 shots on goal. Defensively, the Carolina Hurricanes are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 80.3 percent of their opponents power plays. Curtis McElhinney has given up 51 goals on 611 shots faced and Petr Mrazek has allowed 73 goals on 710 shots. The Carolina Hurricanes have allowed three or less goals in five of their last six games.
The Stars are 25-10 in their last 35 Saturday games, 13-27 in their last 40 road games and 23-57 in their last 80 games as a road underdog. The Hurricanes are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest, 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite and 6-2 in their last 8 home games. The under is 19-5-5 in Stars last 29 road games. The over is 4-1-1 in Hurricanes last 6 home games. The Stars are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Carolina and 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.
The Carolina Hurricanes are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and have had no problem winning on the end of back to backs. However, the Dallas Stars have been kind to us these past couple of weeks and have been fairly profitable in the underdog role. The Stars are consistently good defensively, and I always like to get behind teams that keep the puck out of the net, as you have good chances to cash tickets. Not to mention the recent h2h numbers favor the Stars. I'll take the road team and the plus money.
