The Oilers look to shake off a tough loss to the Capitals on Monday as they head into Raleigh to do battle with the Hurricanes.
The Edmonton Oilers had one of their best games of the season in the defensive end on Monday night but unfortunately their offense went dry in a 1-0 loss to the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center and fell to 7-13-1 in the process. Edmonton hasn't been able to shake their losing culture and are in the midst of another tough start, however the Pacific division is wide open at the moment as no one has been able to separate themselves from the pack and the Oil are just seven points out of a playoff spot. Edmonton will likely turn to Cam Talbot in this one as he will go up against Cam Ward.
The Hurricanes suffered a tough loss on Monday night in Philadelphia falling to the Flyers by a 3-2 final in overtime but return home here on Wednesday to welcome the Edmonton Oilers. Carolina hasn't had a great start to the year either and sit in seventh place in the Metro with 18 points in 21 games and will likely find themselves in that spot for most of the season. Carolina does have some nice pieces on the way but they will have to go through some growing pains first and part of that will likely mean parting ways with Eric Staal and/or Cam Ward and that could happen by season's end. As for this match up I think the Oilers are the better of the two teams and they get a much needed road victory and start a new winning streak.
