The Edmonton Oilers travel to the Carolina Hurricanes in a Friday NHL tilt.

The struggling Edmonton Oilers have dropped eight of nine after a 3-1 loss at Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Leon Draisaitl gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead in the first period with Mikko Koskinen allowing two goals on 34 shots to absorb the loss.

Pittsburgh received second period goals from Bryan Rust and Teddy Blueger with Jared McCann hitting the empty net. Seven Penguins recorded points and Matt Murray stopped 38 shots to pick up the win.

The Carolina Hurricanes have won seven of ten after downing Ottawa on the road 4-1 on Tuesday. Ottawa took a short lived 1-0 lead in the first off the stick of Mark Stone. Anders Nilsson was charged with all four goals on 37 shots to absorb the loss for the Senators.

Teuvo Teravainen scored twice in a four goal Carolina third period with Micheal Ferland and Justin Williams adding markers. Williams also had an assist and Ferland added a pair of helpers for the Hurricanes to make the 25 saves of Curtis McElhinney a winning effort.

Oilers are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan and Oilers are 1-8 in their last 9 overall and Oilers are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.

Hurricanes are 4-1 in their last 5 overall and Hurricanes are 6-2 in their last 8 vs. Western Conference and Hurricanes are 6-2 in their last 8 home games.

Home team is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings and over is 9-4-1 in the last 14 meetings and favorite is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

Carolina returns from a 4-1 road swing with a few days rest and face a slumping Oilers squad. Something on the Hurricanes but reduce the juice…

Pick:
Carolina -.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
