The Kings look to shake off a loss in their last outing as they head into Raleigh to do battle with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The LA Kings sit atop the Pacific division with 24 points but are feeling the heat from the San Jose Sharks who have won five games in a row and are starting to turn things around after a slow start. The Kings are 6-4 in their last 10 contests but have been pretty consistent across the board this season and look like a threat to not only get back in the playoffs after missing out last year but going on a serious run deep into the Western Conference and maybe even the Stanley Cup final. Jonathan Quick will likely get the start here as he will go up against Cam Ward. The Kings are 5-2 on the road so far this season while the Hurricanes are a measly 2-5-3 at home.
The Hurricanes head into Sunday's action against the Kings looking to rebound after an overtime loss and improve on their lackluster 6-10-3 record but they will have their work cut out for them. The Canes are in the midst of an overhaul and things could really ramp up in a few months time as some of their cornerstones could be on the move as guys like Eric Staal, Jeff Skinner, and Cam Ward could all be dealt to contenders by early March. As for now, the Canes will likely find themselves in situations where they are underdogs both on the ice and with the books and in this spot here against a tough Kings side I don't see them coming away with any momentum.
