The Wild look for their second win in as many nights as they head into Raleigh looking to take two points away from the Hurricanes.
The Minnesota Wild continued their strong second half with a big time road win in DC last night against the Capitals in what was a defensive battle the road team clinched after falling behind early 1-0. Minnesota continues to prove they not only belong in the playoffs but they should be in the discussion of making a serious push in the Western Conference and while there are a ton of great teams in the West worthy of winning the Cup it is hard to argue the Wild don't belong among them. Minny has won four in a row and are now just four points back of the Blackhawks for third place in the Central division and hold a ffive point cushion on a handful of teams who are competing for wild card spot. Darcy Kuemper is expected to get the start as he will go up against Cam Ward.
The Hurricanes have had a tough go this season and will likely end up with a top end draft pick and with plenty to be had in the lottery stage of this draft it'll go a long way in helping this team rebuild. The Canes are a sliver of where they once were and it'll take some time before they can get back to relevance especially when some of their key pieces continue to get shipped out and it didn't change this season as Andrej Sekera was sent packing at the trade deadline. The Canes are at home here and have been playing more competitively of late but Minny is rolling and that should continue heading into the weekend.
