The Canadiens look to avenge a loss when they travel to Raleigh to take on the Hurricanes.

The Canadiens head into Tuesday night’s encounter with the Hurricanes looking to get back in the win column after dropping a sloppy effort to the Florida Panthers on Sunday. The Canadiens played a very solid team game the night before against the Tampa bay Lightning but fell in a major let down spot to the underwhelming Panthers behind a poor outing from backup netminder Petr Budaj. The Canadiens still sit in third place in the Atlantic division and are very much in the mix in the Eastern Conference playoff picture but they’ll need to develop some more confidence in the second half of the year if they’re going to stick with the Bruins, Pens, and Bolts. The Habs face off against one of theor franchise’s best in Kirk Muller who loves beating his former team and with Cam Ward in goal they have more than a chance to do so.

The Hurricanes are in the midst of another disappointing season but based on their divisions futility they have a shot at making the postseason though it looks relatively slim. The Canes were expected to make some noise coming into the league last season after they acquired Alex Semin and Jordan Staal but they haven’t been able to find any form of consistency over that time and as such they find themselves playing from behind quite a bit. The Canes are two games under .500 and are second to last in their division but are a win or two away from jumping up to 4th which they could very well do with a victory over the Canadiens here tonight. The Habs are a pretty decent favourite here but I think it’s for good cause as Price is arguably the best goalie in the league and with a game’s rest coming into this one I think he shines in a Montreal win.
