NHL action comes to PNC Arena where the Carolina Hurricanes host the Montreal Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens have to get hot and stay hot throughout the second half of the year in order to save their season. Montreal has dropped consecutive contests as the team opened the second half schedule with a 3-1 loss at the St. Louis Blues where Charles Hudon scored with 1:07 remaining in the third period.

The St. Louis scoring came from Ivan Barbashev in the second with Patrik Berglund scoring on the power play in the third. Alexander Steen score on the empty net with 2:17 remaining in regulation for a 3-0 lead help Carter Hutton to the win with 33 saves while Carey Price stopped 28 shots in the loss.

The Carolina Hurricanes are just one of several teams that aren’t out of the postseason picture but will be  if the team doesn’t string wins together. Carolina is hoping a hot streak is just beginning with back to back victories following a 2-1 win versus the visiting Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

This was scoreless until Jean-Gabriel Pageau gave the Senators their lone goal with 1:12 left in the second period. Sebastian Aho and Victor Rask lit the lamp in the third for the Hurricanes which lifted Cam Ward and his 29 stops to the win while Craig Anderson made 37 saves in a losing effort.

Canadiens are 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Canadiens are 1-6 in their last 7 road games and under is 12-2 in Canadiens last 14 road games. Hurricanes are 4-0 in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and Hurricanes are 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games and Hurricanes are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. Canadiens are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and under is 6-2-5 in the last 13 meetings.

I believe paying high juice on the Hurricanes is hazardous to a bank roll even though I think they win…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
