The New Jersey Devils take the ice at the Carolina Hurricanes in Sunday NHL action.

The New Jersey Devils were denied a third  straight victory with a 3-2 OT loss to Detroit on Saturday. Pavel Zacha and Blake Coleman provided the offense for New Jersey for a 2-0 lead but Keith Kinkaid gave up three goals on 30 shots.

Luke Glendening and Michael Rasmussen  scored in regulation for the Red Wings with Dylan Larkin lighting the lamp in the extra session. Tyler Bertuzzi added a pair of assists while Jonathan Bernier secured the two points for Detroit with 38 stops.

The Carolina Hurricanes saw their opportunity at consecutive victories disappear in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Columbus on Saturday. Sebastian Aho scored in the second for the Hurricanes but Scott Darling was touched for four goals on 23 shots.

The Blue Jackets offense was all about Cam Atkinson who recorded a hat trick while Zach Werenski also lit the lamp. Atkinson also had an assist with Pierre-Luc Dubois posting two more assists followed by a three helper effort from Artemi Panarin.
