The Line: Carolina Hurricanes +118 / New York Rangers -130 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL hockey comes to PNC Arena Thursday when the New York Rangers take the ice with the Carolina Hurricanes.
If the New York Rangers played every game away from home they could set a record in points as they have really been the definition of road warriors. The Rangers continued to excel on the road with Tuesday’s 5-2 victory at the Florida Panthers for their 5th consecutive win away from home. Newcomer Tanner Glass scored his first with Chris Kreider, Nick Holden, Kevin Hayes and Pavel Buchnevich also finding the back of the net to provide plenty of support for Henrik Lundqvist and his monster 43 save effort. The Panthers had problems at both ends of the ice with Thomas Vanek and Aaron Ekblad providing the offense while James Reimer gave up four goals on just 19 shots before getting the hook in favor of Reto Berra.
The struggling Colorado Avalanche brought the worse record in hockey in to Tuesday’s match up with the Carolina Hurricanes at the Pepsi Center so many thought it was going to be just another loss. An offense that has had plenty of issues has been largely to blame but the Avalanche came up with a sterling performance against the Hurricanes with a 3-1 victory for their 10th home win of the season. The Avs received goals from Tyson Barrie, Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon (EN) while Barrie also added a pair of helpers to make a winner of Calvin Pickard who recorded 25 saves. Justin Faulk scored the lone Hurricanes goal and Eddie Lack made 33 stops as the Canes are tied for last in the Metropolitan.
The over is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 games following a win and the under is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 games playing on 1 days rest while the Rangers are 8-1 in their last 9 Thursday games. The under is 6-1 in Hurricanes last 7 home games and the under is 6-1-1 in Hurricanes last 8 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while the Hurricanes are 2-10 in their last 12 overall. The home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the over is 3-1-2 in the last 6 meetings while the Rangers are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Carolina.
New York has been a strong performer at Carolina and the over has done okay but I lean Rangers pending goalies…
