Carolina -205 / Ottawa +165 / over-under: 5.5

The Carolina Hurricanes welcome the Ottawa Senators to town in a Friday NHL bout.

The Ottawa Senators have won three of four after a 5-2 victory against visiting Colorado on Wednesday. Nikita Zadorov and Nathan MacKinnon supplied the Colorado scoring. Mikko Rantanen assisted twice and Semyon Varlamov gave up four goals on 30 shots to absorb the loss for the Avalanche.

Matt Duchene led the Senators with a pair of third period tallies while Brady Tkachuk, Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel found the back of the net in the second. Anders Nilsson recorded 30 stops for Ottawa to get the victory.

The red hot Carolina Hurricanes were cooled off for a night with a 6-2 loss at the NY Rangers on Tuesday. Saku Maenalanen scored both goals for the Hurricanes with Curtis McElhinney giving up six goals on 28 shots to get the loss.

New York received two goals each from Mika Zibanejad, Pavel Buchnevich and Tony DeAngelo. Zibanejad and Mats Zuccarello added a pair of helpers each and Henrik Lundqvist picked up the win for the Rangers with 34 saves.

Senators are 0-6 in their last 6 vs. Metropolitan and Senators are 0-7 in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference and Senators are 0-5 in their last 5 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game. Hurricanes are 5-0 in their last 5 home games and over is 6-1-1 in Hurricanes last 8 overall and over is 5-1-1 in Hurricanes last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. Senators are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings and Senators are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings in Carolina and home team is 28-9 in the last 37 meetings.

Carolina has won five straight in this matchup so I give the Canes the edge but the juice has to be knocked down…

Mark’s Pick Carolina -.5
