The Senators head into Raleigh on Saturday looking to send the Hurricanes to defeat and extend their second place standing in the Atlantic division.
The Ottawa Senators head into action on Saturday night sitting in second place in the Atlantic division after winning back to back games and with a 5-1 mark on the road they find themselves in a good spot once again to claim victory here. Ottawa has been a bit inconsistent to start the year and part of that has to do with their goaltending split between Craig Anderson and Andrew Hammond but on the whole they look like a team who should be competitive in the Atlantic and could very well find themselves back in the postseason this year but with much loftier expectations. Hammond will get the start here as he goes up against Cam Ward.
The Hurricanes have lost back to back games and find themselves in second to last place in the Metro division which is probably on par for where they will end up at season's end. Carolina is 5-8 through their first 13 games this season but already trail the division leading Rangers by 10 points and while there is plenty of hockey left to be played they seem like a group that is bound to be sellers come trade deadline time as they continue to prepare for the future. Carolina has come up with some decent wins this season but this doesn't look like the spot as the Sens have been road warriors and get another one tonight.
