To say that things have been a disappointment for both of these teams to start the year would be an understatement. Every year the Philadelphia Flyers have expectations and this year was no different, but their performance this year has been an absolute disgrace. It's hard to give them credit for rebounding from their 7-0 drubbing at the hands of the Washington Capitals on Friday night because they beat a New Jersey Devils team who has been pretty bad in their own right by a score of 1-0. Philadelphia is used to scoring goals but it's just not happening for them this year. They're trying to conform to Craig Berube's defensive first system but it's hurting their offensive capabilities right now. Steve Mason has been their best player on the year and while it's something that the Flyers have been looking for forever from a goalie it's not going to matter if they can't put the puck in the net. Carolina has way too much talent to be playing the way they are but for the second year in a row their goaltending situation is crippling them. This is a hard game to figure out because both teams are better than what they've shown and despite not scoring much they both have the talent to put pucks in the net.
