Friday night NHL action sees the Philadelphia Flyers visiting the Carolina Hurricanes.
A few short weeks ago the Philadelphia Flyers were a win away from taking over first in the Metropolitan but losses in seven of eight have dropped he team to third. Philadelphia comes off of a 5-3 loss to Columbus where Claude Giroux, Shayne Gostisbehere and Andrew McDonald scored for the Flyers while Petr Mrazek allowed four goals on ten shots before Alex Lyon stopped 18 shots in relief.
The Blue Jackets saw Cam Atkinson record a hat trick with Boone Jenner and Oliver Bjorkstrand also finding the back of the net. Artemi Panarin gave Columbus a pair of assists and Sergei Bobrovsky gave up three goals on 30 shots to get the win.
The Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a change of momentum after losing four of five where 21 goals were given up. Carolina comes off a 6-4 loss to Boston with Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, Justin Williams and Brock McGinn scoring while Cam Ward stopped 28-33 shots.
The Bruins scored five unanswered goals in the third period to end the game led by a David Pastrnak hat trick while Matt Gzelcyk, Danton Heinen Brad Marchand also lit the lamp. Riley Nash and Marchand also contributed two assists each and Tuukka Rask recorded the win with 29 saves.
