The Carolina Hurricanes have got to be wondering what they did to deserve this for the second year in a row. Cam Ward just cannot stay healthy and without him in the lineup this is a completely different hockey club. The Hurricanes have lost six of their last eight games and they've got a great stretch of games coming up on home ice but they have already lost their top two goaltenders. Justin Peters was the guy they didn't trust playing significant minutes last year so they went out and got Anton Khubobin, but now they're right back to playing Peters because of all the injuries. A match up with the TampaBay Lightning is exactly what this club doesn't need right now because having to deal with Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos isn't going to be fun when you don't have any confidence in your goaltender. The Lightning have won three of their last four and will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. The schedule gets much tougher for the Lightning in the near future so this is the type of game they'd really like to find a way to win because victories might be hard to come by after this one.
