The Lightning look to break out of their slump with an inspired effort on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
The Hurricanes host Tampa Bay on Sunday as winners of three games in a row as their road trip has been very successful thus far but face a tough test on Sunday as the Bolts are in the midst of a three game losing skid. Carolina is averaging just under three goals per game against which is a very good number for them at this point in the season as Cam Ward appears to have regained his form and while it may not last it is increasing the value of Ward on the trade market as he will likely be shipped to a contender by the trade deadline. Carolina is just 1-2 at home so far this season while the Lightning are 3-2-2 on the road.
The Bolts have had a bit of a rough start to the season as they haven't been able to get their primary point producers rolling quite yet as Steven Stamkos, Tyler Johnson, and the like have all been quiet through 12 games. Tampa knows they need to get their groove back from last year's Stanley Cup final run in which they were crowned Eastern Conference champions as the Atlantic division is starting to heat up and with the Wings, Canadiens, Senators, and Panthers all playing well the Bolts are getting left behind. This is a great spot for the Canes as they look to keep the winning streak going but in the end the Bolts are just the better team and need a victory in a bad way here.
