The Line: Carolina Hurricanes -140 / Toronto Maple Leafs +120 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Toronto Maple Leafs pay a visit PNC Arena to take the ice with the Carolina Hurricanes in NHL hockey on Sunday.
The Ottawa Senators are within two points of the Atlantic leading Montreal Canadiens following a 6-3 victory versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday behind a four goal third period explosion. Derick Brassard scored two times with Chris Wideman, Mike Hoffman, Ryan Dzingel while Mark Stone also scored and logged four helpers. Craig Anderson picked up the win with 37 saves as the Sens won their 4th in five games. The Maple Leafs offense came off the sticks of Nazem Kadri, William Nylander and Morgan Rielly but Frederik Andersen allowed all six goals on 40 shots as Toronto fell to 26-20-11.
The Carolina Hurricanes looked to have all the advantages versus the visiting Colorado Avalanche Friday night but nothing is a guarantee as the Avs skated to a 2-1, overtime win. The Hurricanes looked flat at the offensive end of the ice with Jeff Skinner scoring the only goal while Cam Ward came close to rescuing the team with a fantastic 35 save performance as the team fell for the third straight game. Mikko Rantanen tallied at 4:23 of the extra session to win it and end Colorado’s six game slide. Tyson Barrie scored in regulation for the Avalanche while Calvin Pickard picked up the victory on a 28 save performance.
The over is 4-0-1 in Maple Leafs last 5 road games and the under is 7-0 in Maple Leafs last 7 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation while the over is 4-1 in Maple Leafs last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes are 4-0 in their last 4 Sunday games and the over is 6-0-1 in Hurricanes last 7 games playing on 1 days rest while the over is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. The under is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings and the Maple Leafs are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in Carolina while the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Carolina.
The Maple Leafs have struggled at Carolina and the under has done well so I lean under until I see goalies…
