The Ducks look to snap their hideous start to the season as they head into Chicago to do battle with the league champs.
The Anaheim Ducks were the preseason trend to win the Western Conference this season after falling a game short of the that designation last year but a woeful 1-5-1 start has them playing catch up already and their big guns have run out of ammo. The Ducks have yet to see any production out of Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, and Ryan Kesler and despite a microscopic goals against average from Frederik Andersen the team has just one victory due to their pathetic offense that is averaging less than a goal per game. The Ducks certainly have the pieces to ratify this in a hurry and put this ugly stretch behind them but a road match up against the Hawks isn't exactly an easy recipe for success and while Chicago is without Duncan Keith the Hawks have won both games without him and are favoured to do it again here.
The Blackhawks are 5-3 through their first eight games but play in the toughest division in hockey where 10 points has you second from the basement at the moment as the Stars, Preds, Blues, Jets, and Wild are all ahead of the reigning Cup champions. Chicago as mentioned will be without one of the game's best defenders for a while as Duncan Keith is on the injured reserve and while that is a huge loss they do have a ton of defensive depth and have the offense to rally around it. This is tough as the Hawks are bound to lay an egg soon and almost lost over the weekend to the Lightning in Chicago and while Anaheim should be on auto fade right now I think we finally see them wake up in their biggest match up of the season.
