The Blackhawks look to end a mini two game slide as they head back to the United Center to host the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.
Anaheim dropped a marathon contest at home against the LA Kings on Tuesday night that went into a shootout where nobody on either team seemed to want to win the game until Dwight King from the Kings snapped home the only goal of the skills competition. The loss sent the Ducks to their 7th defeat in their last 10 contests and now head to the road to face one of the game’s best home teams and most dangerous clubs overall. The Ducks have a solid top six in terms of offensive firepower but if there was anything that the shootout loss demonstrated was that they lack some serious offensive depth and might be something that they address as the season progresses and the trade deadline looms.
Chicago meanwhile has lost back to back games for the first time this season and they will look to regroup before the weekend with a bounce back effort against one of the teams chasing them in the West. The Hawks have without question one of the best teams in the league and in a matchup against the Ducks they will have to show their depth in the offensive zone and get a ton of pucks on Jonas Hiller who was brilliant against the Kings in a losing effort. It looks like Corey Crawford will get the call once again for the Hawks but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the bench but either way I like this spot for the home team despite coming off a tough loss to the Wild. Take Chicago to bounce back as they take advantage of a Ducks team not playing their best at the moment.
