The Arizona Coyotes visit the United Center to take the ice with the Chicago Blackhawks in NHL action.
The Arizona Coyotes are in desperate need of a winning streak of any length as the season is slowly getting out of reach. Arizona finishes a four game road swing with a stop to oppose the Chicago Blackhawks. The road has not been kind to the Coyotes who have been away from home in five of six and have not won in this stretch.
Arizona is near the bottom of most offensive categories in 2017-18 and did not help those numbers after suffering a 1-0 loss at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Antti Raanta was a bright spot between the pipes for the Yotes with 33 saves in defeat. The Blue Jackets saw Josh Anderson score the only goal of the game in the first and Sergei Bobrovsky took over from there with 35 stops for his 4th shutout of the season.
The Chicago Blackhawks still haven’t found a groove this season although I’m sure it will come because the team is oozing with talent. The Blackhawks snapped a five game losing streak with a 3-2, overtime win versus the Buffalo Sabres Saturday. Buffalo did control the scoreboard against the always dangerous Blackhawks offense but they couldn’t capitalize with Kyle Okposo and Jason Pominville doing the scoring.
The Chicago offense received regulation goals off the sticks of Alex DeBrincat on the power play with Tommy Wingels while shorthanded with just 3:22 left in the game. Gustav Forsling tallied the winner with less then five seconds left in the extra session to help the Blackhawks avoid a shootout. Corey Crawford made 28 stops to pick up the win while Robin Lehner recorded 48 saves for the Sabres.
Under is 11-1-1 in Coyotes last 13 vs. Central and under is 7-1 in Coyotes last 8 vs. a team with a losing record and under is 5-1 in Coyotes last 6 road games. Under is 3-0-1 in Blackhawks last 4 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and under is 5-1 in Blackhawks last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and Blackhawks are 1-5 in their last 6 overall. Over is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings and Coyotes are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Chicago and Coyotes are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings.
The Blackhawks don’t really make me do back flips because their play has been disappointing at best. I’ll throw this out there…
