The Arizona Coyotes and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Monday night.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 4-2 win over Los Angeles in their last outing. Christian Dvorak and Michael Grabner scored 2:07 apart in the opening period to stake the Coyotes a 2-0 lead with Dvorak scoring on the power play while Grabner scored short-handed. Los Angeles pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 after the opening period, a score that would hold up through the 2nd period before L.A. tied the game early in the 3rd. Dvorak and Grabner would score their 2nd goals of the game respectively to give the ‘Yotes a 3-2 lead and a 4th goal for insurance to seal the win for Arizona. Darcy Kuemper got the win to improve to 22-15-5 after stopping 34 of 36 shots faced in the winning effort.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to add to their back-to-back wins after a 2-1 win over Dallas last time out. David Kampf opened the scoring for Chicago before Dallas tied the game up just 1:13 later. Alex DeBrincat gave the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead in the last minute of the opening period, a lead that the Blackhawks would hold through the 1st, 2nd and through the 3rd periods as Chicago would hold off the Stars en route to picking up the victory. Corey Crawford got the win to improve to 9-15-2 after stopping 26 of 27 shots faced in the winning effort.
Arizona is 8-1 in their last 9 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 games against the Western Conference while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 Monday games. Chicago is 7-3 in their last 10 home games and 13-6 in their last 19 games overall while the over is 10-1-1 in their last 12 games against the Pacific division. Arizona is 2-9 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Chicago.
I understand Chicago being favored at home given how much success the Blackhawks have had in this matchup and the fact that you can probably argue that Chicago is the more talented team of the two in this one. However, a lot of that success came when Arizona wasn’t playing as well as they have been lately, and you can make a case that we are getting the team in better form with plus money here. Right or wrong, I can’t pass up on the value we are getting with Arizona here, so I’ll take a shot with the Coyotes and the plus money here.
