The Coyotes look to rebound after a tough loss against the Blues last night as they face off against the defending champs in Chicago.
The Arizona Coyotes couldn’t quite pull off the unthinkable and qualify for the Western Conference playoffs this season as their bid to get there fell just short and will send them back to the drawing board in the offseason. Arizona made some huge strides ahead of schedule this season and will be a team on the rise heading into next year and with the Pacific division always seeming to have so much uncertainty they could very well be a playoff team as early as 2016-17. The Coyotes are in a back to back here and could go with Louis Domingue as they have just three games remaining and he will likely be countered by Scott Darling who remains the go to guy with Corey Crawford on the shelf.
The Blackhawks meanwhile head into tonight’s game looking to get back on track with the playoffs fast approaching and they will have to do so without suspended defenseman and reigning Conn Smythe winner Duncan Keith. Chicago has won back to back games but are a modest 5-4-1 in their last 10 contests and while they are well clear of falling into the wild card bracket they are set to travel to either Dallas or St. Louis for the first two games of their opening round series as they cannot improve on their third place standing in the Central. The Hawks are still a very good team and should be considered the team to beat until proven otherwise but there is something that seems a bit off about them and without one of their leaders down the stretch I think they could hit a speed bump. However, they are too good to lose at home in a game they should win easily against the Coyotes.
