The Line: Chicago Blackhawks / Boston Bruins --- Over/Under:
The Boston Bruins visit the Windy City to battle the Chicago Blackhawks in Sunday NHL hockey action.
The Boston Bruins are not locked in to a spot in the playoffs so the next best thing is controlling your own fate which they do. The Bruins took care of business Saturday afternoon with a one sided 5-2 victory over the visiting Florida Panthers. The win left the Bruins ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs by a single point for third in the Atlantic as well as a three point bulge over the Tampa Bay Lightning for the last Wild Card although the Leafs and Lightning play later Saturday. The Bruins offense featured a pair of goals from Patrice Bergeron with David Krejci, Noel Acciari and Brad Marchand also joining the scoring spree. Tuukka Rask stopped 24 shots to lift Boston to win number four in a row. Thomas Vanek and Jaromir Jagr tallied for the Panthers while Reto Berra recorded 24 stops in the loss.
The Chicago Blackhawks have been heating up and flexing their muscle as the regular season begins to end and the postseason is about to begin and as usual this is the time when the Hawks wrap things up in the Central Division and prepare for yet another Stanley Cup drive. The Blackhawks are on the brink of capturing the division along with the top seed in the Western Conference following a 3-1 victory versus the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. Artemi Panarin paced the Blackhawks in the scoring column with a pair of tallies with Marian Hossa also finding the back of the net to make a winner of Corey Crawford and his 32 saves. The CBJ only goal came from Nick Foligno with Sergei Bobrovsky making 21 stops in the loss.
The Bruins are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. Western Conference and the over is 6-1-1 in Bruins last 8 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation while the over is 6-1-1 in Bruins last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The over is 6-0-2 in Blackhawks last 8 Sunday games and Blackhawks are 10-1 in their last 11 vs. a team with a winning record while the Blackhawks are 8-2 in their last 10 home games. The over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings and the Bruins are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings.
The over has had some success here and the Blackhawks have done well and I favor them while waiting for goalie confirmation…
