Saturday NHL action features the Columbus Blue Jackets facing the Chicago Blackhawks.

The surging Columbus Blue Jackets saw their four game winning streak end in a 3-0 loss to the visiting NY Islanders on Thursday. The Blue Jackets offense was stymied by solid goaltending but Sergei Bobrovsky struggled with three goals allowed on 28 shots.

Casey Cizikas led New York with goals in the first and second with Josh Bailey scoring with 41 second remaining in the second period. Bailey also had an assist and Thomas Greiss earned the shutout for the Islanders with a 31 save performance.

The Chicago Blackhawks have racked up wins in eight of nine after downing New Jersey 5-2 on Thursday. New Jersey received first period goals from Travis Zajac and Damon Severson. Cory Schneider was charged with five goals on 35 shots to get the loss for the Devils.

Chicago received scoring off the sticks of Patrick Kane, Drake Caggiula, Jonathan Toews, Artem Anisimov and Brandon Saad. Kane also added a pair of assists for the Blackhawks to make the 40 saves of Cam Ward a winning effort.

Blue Jackets are 4-1 in their last 5 overall and Blue Jackets are 7-3 in their last 10 games playing on 1 days rest and Blue Jackets are 9-4 in their last 13 road games.

Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last 5 home games and Blackhawks are 8-1 in their last 9 overall and Blackhawks are 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win.

Blue Jackets are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings in Chicago and Blue Jackets are 7-20 in the last 27 meetings.

The line says this is a coin flip so small on the hot home team…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
