Another year and another disaster for the Edmonton Oilers. Despite all the young offensive talent this club has they just can't win hockey games because they play no defense and have no goaltending. You can't outscore your opponent every night in this league and the Oilers just haven't learned that yet. Now the club has gone out and traded one of their only good defenseman in order to make room for Ilya Bryzgalov to come in and play goalie. Bryzgalov isn't the worst option in the world but we've already seen him get bought out by Philadelphia for his inconsistent play in front of a defense corps that was less than stellar. Expect similar results in Edmonton because of that. Anyone thinking he'll be the answers to their problems is sorely mistaken. Saturday afternoon they lost 4-2 to the Flyers and now they've got to play Sunday night in Chicago against the Blackhawks. The Hawks are rolling right now at 11-2-4 on the season. Chicago got two goals from Marian Hossa on Saturday night and four assists from Patrick Sharp as they rolled past the Stars in Dallas by a final of 5-2. Edmonton is going to have to have to go punch for punch with the Blackhawks and I'm not sure they're capable of doing that with the way both teams are playing right now.
