NHL | Florida Panthers (14-14-6) at Chicago Blackhawks (13-19-6)
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Panthers visit the Chicago Blackhawks in a Sunday NHL tilt.

The Florida Panthers have a bit of momentum on their side with wins in three of four after squeezing by Detroit 2-1 on Saturday. The Red Wings received an unassisted second period goal from Thomas Vanek with Jimmy Howard getting the loss with two goals allowed on 23 shots.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the opening period with Mike Hoffman and Evgenii Dadonov supplying markers. Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov assisted on each goal while Jimmy Howard recorded 33 stops to pick up the win for Florida.

The Chicago Blackhawks have finally been able to string a few wins together after a 2-1 at Colorado on Friday gave the team three straight victories. JT Compher scored for the Avalanche in the second period while Philipp Grubauer took the loss both goals allowed on 28 shots.

Alex Debrincat gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the first with Artem Anisimov scoring the winner in the third. Collin Delia picked up the win for the Blackhawks to up his record to 1-0-0.

Panthers are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Central and Panthers are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference and Panthers are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. a team with a losing record. Blackhawks are 1-7 in their last 8 Sunday games and Blackhawks are 1-6 in their last 7 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation and over is 6-1-1 in Blackhawks last 8 games playing on 1 days rest. Under is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings in Chicago and Panthers are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings in Chicago andPanthers are 6-19-2 in the last 27 meetings.

This looks like a tossup but I’ll back the Blackhawks who are playing well for the first time…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
