The Nashville Predators look to steal home ice away from the Chicago Blackhawks as the two sides meet up at the United Center on Thursday night.
The Predators head into their opening round series with the Blackhawks looking to put an end to their playoff demons as they have been ousted prematurely for their last handful of seasons, usually at the hands of the Blackhawks, who seem to be the demise of Nashville Cup bids. Nashville has turned things up in the offensive zone this season as they have scored at a higher pace than we are used to seeing from them, but their goal differential has remained consistent meaning they have struggled in the defensive zone, and without Shea Weber this season it is easy to see why. Nashville stands a great chance to pull off a couple of wins in this series as they can go shift for shift with the Hawks but they will need to find a way to win a game or two in this building which is no easy feat, especially in the playoffs.
The Blackhawks meanwhile spent some time to get some of their key pieces ready to go for this playoff run by getting some rest at the end of the regular season but it did end up costing them some wins as they dropped their last four games. Chicago though has a winning pedigree and have plenty of championship experience on their roster which has them in a great position to get back into the Stanley Cup final, though their road to getting there is certainly going to be rocky as there are plenty of quality teams standing in their way in the Western Conference.
The Predators are 2-5 in their last seven overall and winless in their last six games on three day’s rest while the Hawks are 9-1 in their last 10 against the Central and 10-3 in their last 13 Thursday games. Chicago slowed down to finish the season but they get back in the win column with a comfortable victory to start this series with the Preds.
