The New York Rangers look to win their seventh game in a row and take down their Original Six rivals as they head into the United Center to battle the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Rangers look to continue their recent success and extend Chicago’s inconsistent season in the process as the two sides meet up in the Windy City on Wednesday night in what should be an exciting show down between playoff hopefuls. The Rangers came into the season projecting to be among the division leaders in the Metropolitan but they got off to a very slow start and had skeptics grinning from ear to ear but they have turned things around and are looking like a group capable of making another playoff run despite Henrik Lundqvist not looking like himself. Lundqvist is expected to get the start in this one as he will face off against Corey Crawford who was chased in his team’s last game against the New Jersey Devils, but it having a decent season otherwise.
The Blackhawks head into Wednesday night’s game looking to snap a 1-4 stretch in their last five home games and an 8-18 stretch in their last 26 overall but they have dominated the Metro division recently as they are 8-2 in their last 10. Chicago is 8-8-2 to start the season and have some pretty bad losses on their resume so far as they don’t look like the group we have grown to expect over the last decade but there is still plenty of time left to turn things around and a win at home against the Rangers could be the turnaround the Hawks need.
The Rangers are 25-9 in their last 24 against the Western Conference 2-6 in their last eight road games while the Hawks are 12-4 in their last 16 after scoring five goals in their previous game and 5-12 in their last 17 after allowing five in their previous game. Chicago hasn’t looked good this season but they rebound on home ice here as the Rangers cool off for at least one night.
