Monday NHL action pits the Ottawa Senators against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Ottawa Senators look to build on a 4-3 OT decision at Winnipeg on Saturday. Tyler Myers scored twice for the Jets with Brandon Tanev adding a goal. Tanev also posted an assist and Laurent Brossoit gave up four goals on 41 shots.

The Senators received regulation goals from Mark Stone, Rudolfs Balcers and Matt Duchene. Stone and Duchene also posted assists for Ottawa and Anders Nilsson gave up three goals on 26 shots to get the win.

The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off of a 5-2 loss against visiting Columbus on Saturday. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews lit the lamp for the Blackhawks. Kane also assisted and Cam Ward absorbed the loss with five goals allowed on 30 shots.

Artemi Panarin paced the Blue Jackets with a pair of goals with Pierre-Luc Dubois, Cam Atkinson and Josh Anderson finding the scoring column. Ryan Murray gave Columbus three helpers and Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 39 saves to get the win.

Senators are 21-43 in their last 64 games as an underdog and Senators are 3-7 in their last 10 overall and Senators are 3-7 in their last 10 games following a win.

Blackhawks are 5-1 in their last 6 home games and Blackhawks are 8-2 in their last 10 overall and Blackhawks are 3-7 in their last 10 vs. Atlantic.

Senators are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Chicago and road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

Chicago was hot and are 2-2 in their last four while Ottawa springs up and wins when least expected. This is probably one to avoid but I’ll throw this out there…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
