The Flyers look to stay red hot and win their second game in as many nights as they head into the United Center to face off against the Blackhawks.
The Philadelphia Flyers grabbed a huge two points last night as they took down the Detroit Red Wings on home ice and now pulled to within a single point of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with two games in hand. The Flyers have quietly had a very nice season and should be rewarded as such with a shot at the playoffs as they are 10 games above the .500 mark and have gone on a tear at the right time as they are 7-2-1 in their last 10 contests and have beaten some pretty good competition in the process. However, they face a stiff test here as they head into Chicago on the second leg of a back to back against a Hawks team coming an embarrassing 5-0 loss to the LA Kings at the United Center. Michal Neuvirth is expected to get the start as he will go up against Scott Darling.
The Blackhawks are right in the thick of things in the Central division standings as they sit in third place but are just three points back of both the Stars and Blues with a game in hand on both of them. Chicago has been very impressive at home this season as they are 24-9-2 in Illinois but as mentioned they are coming off a very tough 5-0 loss at the hands of the Kings who have asserted themselves as the team to beat in the Western Conference and you can bet the defending champs will be out for revenge here. I am a fan of this Flyers group in their pursuit of a playoff spot but this is just an ugly spot for them as they get a high powered offense that was shut out in their last contest and will be looking to fill the cage in this one.
