The Chicago Blackhawks continue their chase for a playoff spot as they face off against their old time rivals from Vancouver on Monday night.
The Canucks look to continue their run as a spoiler in the Western Conference playoff race and after a win last night in Dallas they stay on the road here to face off against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Monday night. The Canucks had a very strong start to the season and looked as though they were going to be a shoe in for the playoffs but as of now they look like they are going to be on the outside looking in and will go back to the drawing board in the offseason and continue their rebuild. The Canucks are expected to send Thatcher Demko in the crease here in the back end of a double header as he is likely to face off against Corey Crawford who will look to turn in a solid effort as the Hawks continue their chase for a playoff spot.
The Blackhawks meanwhile have won 5 games in a row and are 8-3 in their last 11 home games and with the regular season drawing near a close the Hawks know they can ill afford to drop points to a team with the caliber of the Canucks. Chicago is coming off a big win on the road against the Montreal Canadiens and have have a handful of guys who can put the puck in the back of the net including Patrick Kane and youngster Alex Debrincat. Chicago has struggled to kick off the week over the season as they are a woeful 3-15 in their last 18 Monday games but again at this point in the season they know they can’t drop points if they want to sneak into the playoffs. Chicago and Vancouver have hit the Over in 8 of their last 11 meetings but the underdog is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings which is a crutch for the underdog backers in this contest.
The Canucks are 3-9 in their last 12 overall and winless in their last 5 games against the West while the Hawks are 14-37 in their last 51 against the Pacific and have hit the Over in their last 8 games as a home favorite. Vancouver is playing in a back to back here and are starting their back up goaltender while the Hawks can score in bunches. This one goes over.
