The Washington Capitals look for a win over the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Friday.

The Washington Capitals look to snap out of an early season funk when they visit the Windy City Friday night. The Capitals are coming off a 4-3, overtime defeat at home to Calgary on Tuesday. Washington took a 3-2 lead in to the third only to see Markus Granlund tie the score with Sean Monahan winning it with only 43 seconds remaining in the extra session. Mark Giordano and Lance Bouma also found the back of the net for the Flames with Jonas Hiller making 31 stops to give his team their third straight win. The Capitals received goals from Alex Ovechkin, Joel Ward and Marcus Johansson with the loss going to Braden Holtby who stopped 19 shots as the Caps lost number five in a row.

The Chicago Blackhawks look to go on a prolonged winning streak when they open a homestand with the Washington Capitals Friday. The Blackhawks exploded for three goals in the third to pull away from Montreal for a 5-0 road victory on Tuesday night. Chicago was dominant at both ends of the ice with Kris Versteeg pacing the Hawks attack with a pair of tallies with Brad Richards and Patrick Kane also scoring while Jonathan Toews added a goal and an assist. Corey Crawford was outstanding with 28 stops to pickup the win in his 11th career shutout. The win snapped a two game slide while the Canadiens dropped three in a row with Carey Price allowing all five goals on 32 shots.

The Capitals are 0-5 in their last 5 overall and the over is 5-0 in Capitals last 5 overall while the under is 8-1 in Capitals last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. For Chicago the over is 3-0-1 in Blackhawks last 4 Friday games with the under going 5-0 in Blackhawks last 5 games following a win and is 6-0 in Blackhawks last 6 home games. Head to head the home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. No goalies have been confirmed and no line has been released but the trends favor the Blackhawks so please check back Friday afternoon...

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
