Chicago Blackhawks +104 / Winnipeg Jets -115
The Winnipeg Jets and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Monday night.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to rebound and snap a 3-game losing streak after a 3-1 loss to Montreal in their last outing. Montreal opened the scoring with the lone goal of the 1st period and doubled their advantage with the lone goal of the second frame before Mathieu Perreault finally got the Jets on the board just after the midway point of the final period. That’s as close as the ‘Peg got though, as Montreal would hold on the rest of the way and slam the door shut on any comeback attempt with an empty-netter late in the 3rd. Connor Hellebuyck took the loss, falling to 32-23-2 after allowing a pair of goals on 43 shots in the losing effort.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to rebound after a 3-2 overtime loss to Los Angeles in their last time out. The game was scoreless through the opening period before Alex DeBrincat broke the deadlock within the first two minutes of the second period. L.A. tied the game at one later in the period to send us to the 3rd deadlocked at one apiece. Erik Gustafsson gave the Blackhawks the lead again, but Chicago couldn’t hold on as the Kings tied the game again, sending us to overtime after the end of the 3rd period. We were almost headed for a shootout before L.A. scored the game winner on the power play with just :12 to go. Corey Crawford took the loss, falling to 14-18-4 after allowing all 3 goals on 29 shots faced in the losing effort.
Winnipeg is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 45-20 in their last 65 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Chicago is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 2-6 in their last 8 games as a home underdog while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the Western Conference. Winnipeg is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
The plus money with Chicago at home is tempting considering that Winnipeg is favored on the road despite losing their last three games. However, Winnipeg is the only team here with something to play for, as Chicago’s been eliminated for some time now while Winnipeg is fighting for home ice in the first round of the playoffs. The Jets have also had the upper hand on Chicago in recent meetings, so I’ll lay the juice with Winnipeg to snap their losing streak on the road here.
