The Flames head into Colorado on Tuesday night looking to build on their last second victory over the Edmonton Oilers on the weekend while the home side aims to shake a two game slide and get back in the win column.
The Calgary Flames have had a very tough start to the season but they finally got a couple of bounces to go their way on the weekend in what was a great team win against their arch rivals who had already beaten them in Calgary earlier this season. The Flames are still a long way from where they were last year but a win like that can do wonders for team morale and confidence and with Bob Hartley heading back to Colorado you can bet his guys would love to get him a win tonight. Karri Ramo is expected to get the start as he is back with the team after Jonas Hiller went down with an injury and he will go up against Semyon Varlamov.
The Avalanche haven't had the start they would have hoped for this season as they sit in last place in the competitive Central division and are just 3-7-1 on the year which doesn't bode well for them at the moment as they sit 11 points back of the division leading Stars. Colorado does have some nice pieces in the offensive zone and some potential on the blue line but they haven't been able to get anything going with some consistency this season and that might stop them from making the jump back into the playoffs. This is an interesting game as Jarome Iginla plays against his former team to counter the return of Hartley and while it isn't in Calgary you can be sure Iggy would love to get the two points in this one. In the end, this game is a toss up and the better play is on the total as these teams have been atrocious in their own end and I expect that trend to continue.
