The Carolina Hurricanes look for their second victory of the season as they take to the road to face off against the Colorado Avalanche.
The Hurricanes have stumbled to a 1-4 start and despite playing decently well they have yet to be rewarded for their efforts and as such they sit second to last in the Metro, ahead of only the winless Blue Jackets. Carolina has some nice pieces but are a couple of years away from seeing them come to light and this year could be the one where we see the front office make some moves as they will likely miss the postseason and have some contributors that contenders would love to add to their roster. In the meantime, the Hurricanes will continue to be registered as underdogs, especially on the road, and in this one against an Avs team looking to find their stride it doesn't bode well.
The Avs are coming off a loss and are just 2-3 through their first five contests which is a number they need to improve on if they're going to be competitive in the Central division this season. Colorado has arguably the best line in hockey and they need the boys to start producing if they're going to lead the team up front and obviously with more goals comes less pressure on the defense and goaltender which would be a great thing for this Avs team at the moment. Carolina is a sneaky team as they have been playing better than their 1-4 mark indicates but this is just a bad spot for them against the Avalanche in Denver and I think the home side goes to work early and often.
