The Line: Colorado Avalanche +106 / Carolina Hurricanes -117 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Carolina Hurricanes head to the Pepsi Center to take the ice with the Colorado Avalanche in Thursday NHL.
The Carolina Hurricanes are shooting for two points when the team visits the Colorado Avalanche. Carolina comes in off of a 4-3 shootout defeat versus the visiting Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
Both offenses were in top form with Corey Perry giving the win to Anaheim with the only goal of the shootout. The Ducks received first period goals from Derek Grant and Ondrej Kase while Jakob Silfverberg scored with under five minutes left in the third to even the score at 3-3.
The Hurricanes attack featured goals from Jordan Staal, Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk while Justin Williams added a pair of helpers. That was not enough support for Scott Darling who gave up three goals on 25 shots for the Canes while Ryan Miller recorded 34 saves in the win.
The Colorado Avalanche have shown improvement from last season and look for another home win when the Carolina Hurricanes come to town Thursday. Colorado looks for consecutive victories after upending the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Avalanche offense was overwhelming with Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon leading the way with each scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist while Sven Andrighetto and Rocco Grimaldi joined the scoring spree.
The trio of Nick Schmaltz, Artem Anisimov and Ryan Hartman supplied the Blackhawks scoring with Michal Kempny logging a pair of assists. Anton Forsberg allowed five goals on 20 shots before Corey Crawford came on in relief for the Hawks and stopped 7-8 shots. Jonathan Bernier picked up the win for the Avs with 39 saves.
Over is 4-0 in Hurricanes last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and over is 7-1 in Hurricanes last 8 vs. a team with a winning record and Hurricanes are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. Central. Over is 2-0-2 in Avalanche last 4 vs. Metropolitan and over is 4-0 in Avalanche last 4 overall and over is 4-0-1 in Avalanche last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Under is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings and Hurricanes are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings in Colorado and home team is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings.
It’s takes some getting used to seeing the Avalanche do better then last season although little has changed roster wise. I lean Colorado until I see goalies…
