The Chicago Blackhawks visit the Pepsi Center to square off with the Colorado Avalanche in late night NHL hockey on Tuesday.
The Chicago Blackhawks have wrapped up the Central Division and possess the best record in the Western Conference so they have nothing to play for until the playoffs begin. Having said that, the Blackhawks don’t want to go through the motions and head to the postseason looking bad. The Hawks did play well in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Boston Bruins on Sunday afternoon. Chicago received goals off the sticks of Artemi Panarin and Jordin Tootoo despite peppering the Boston net with 43 shots. Corey Crawford gave the Blackhawks 26 saves in a losing effort. Ryan Spooner, Kevan Miller and Patrice Bergeron tallied for the Bruins while backup Anton Khudobin was outstanding with 41 saves to lift the team to their 5th consecutive win to keep them as the frontrunner for the second Wild Card.
The Colorado Avalanche have obviously had their issues this season with little going favorably so we didn’t know what to expect when a struggling Minnesota Wild club took the ice despite being at home. The Wild who have had problems for over a month came through with a complete performance at both ends of the ice in a 5-2 victory on Sunday. Minnesota goalie Devan Dubnyk returned from a few days off and responded with a 30 save performance while Erik Haula, Zach Parise, Martin Hanzal, Jared Spurgeon and Jordan Schroeder made sure the offense held up their end of the bargain with each scoring. The Avalanche saw Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen find the back of the net with Calvin Pickard surrendering four goals on 16 shots before getting lifted in favor of Jeremy Smith.
The over is 3-0-1 in Blackhawks last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and the over is 6-1 in Blackhawks last 7 Tuesday games while the over is 11-2-3 in Blackhawks last 16 vs. Central. The over is 5-0 in Avalanche last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and the Avalanche are 0-4 in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 while the over is 6-1 in Avalanche last 7 vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Blackhawks are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and the Blackhawks are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado while the over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings in Colorado.
The Blackhawks have had plenty of success versus Colorado and goals were scored although my lean pending goalies and juice is the Hawks…
