The Pepsi Center and the Colorado Avalanche host the Detroit Red Wings in a Sunday NHL bout.
The Detroit Red Wings won’t be participating in the postseason and have tumbled in to a nine game slide where neither end of the ice has been playing well. Detroit comes in off of a 4-2 defeat at Anaheim where Mike Green and Gustav Nyquist scored with Jimmy Howard allowing four goals on 36 shots.
The balanced Ducks offense saw scoring from Nick Ritchie, Derek Grant, Corey Perry and Ryan Kesler. Jacob Silfverberg gave Anaheim a pair of helpers and John Gibson improved to 27-17-6 with a 28 save performance.
The Colorado Avalanche playoff drive has been heading in the right direction 15 points in ten games. Colorado saw a three game winning streak end in a 4-2 loss to visiting Nashville where Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog provided the offense.
Colton Sissons and Filip Forsberg sparked the Predators offense with a pair of goals each while Craig Smith added a pair of helpers. Juuse Saros recorded 33 saves for Nashville while Semyon Varlamov fell to 20-14-6 with 23 saves for Colorado.
Red Wings are 0-5 in their last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Red Wings are 0-4 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Red Wings are 0-8 in their last 8 vs. Western Conference. Over is 6-0-1 in Avalanche last 7 Sunday games and over is 5-0 in Avalanche last 5 home games and Avalanche are 4-1 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Road team is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings and over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings and Red Wings are 22-8 in the last 30 meetings in Colorado.
The Red Wings have absolutely dominated the Avalanche but I’m just backing the hotter team…
