The Avalanche look to stay hot and win their fifth in a row as they welcome the Oilers to town who have lost back to back games since their six game winning streak.
The Edmonton Oilers look to get back in the win column on Saturday night as they head into Denver to battle the Avalanche in what should be an exciting contest between two teams looking to make a push at a Western Conference playoff spot. Edmonton had been the hottest team in the league as winners of six in a row but they have since dropped back to back games to the Rangers and Blackhawks before taking on the Avs tonight and while they are considered underdogs in this one they have a great shot at getting the victory as they match up well with the Avs. Edmonton will likely go back to Anders Nilsson in this one as he faces off against Semyon Varlamov who will look to get the Avs just their sixth victory of the season on home ice.
Colorado has been tearing up the league over the last week and a half and as a result they have jumped ahead of the Jets in the Central division and are right in the fold for a wild card playoff spot. The Avs were expected to be in the mix this year but thanks to a slow start and the rest of the Central seemingly having miraculous starts they find themselves behind the eight ball and need to do a better job of closing the gap quickly or else they could find themselves as sellers at the trade deadline. While Colorado has been playing well I actually like the Oilers here as they have a strong top line that rivals that of Colorado and in the end I think Edmonton is due for a road win while the Avs' home record struggles.
