The Kings look to continue their recent success and inch closer to a playoff spot as they head into Colorado to do battle with the Avalanche.
The Kings will look to earn their seventh win in their last 10 contests and jump back into the race in the Pacific division but against an Avs team that is in full blown desperation mode they know they're going to have to play their best game. Los Angeles heads into this game sitting three points out of a wild card spot and two points out of third place in the division that is currently occupied by the Calgary Flames but with three weeks left to go in the regular season the Kings know that while time is running out they are far from panicking and can still take their approach one game at a time. LA are the defending champs for a reason and while some pieces may not be in place from last year's group they are still a legit contender to repeat and they will look to demonstrate that down the stretch with a solid run to end the season.
The Avs have had a disappointing season that was made even worse over the last week or so as it was learned that sophomore sensation Nathan Mackinnon would be out for the rest of the year and now starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov is out as well as things continue to beat down the Avs. Colorado has been able to rip off three straight wins though and are still in the hunt for a wild card spot and while their chances of getting into the playoffs disappear with each passing day you can be sure this group will fight until the very end. Colorado is good at home and the Kings do struggle on the road but without Varly here I think the Avs will be outmatched and I love the price the Kings are getting here.
