The Colorado Avalanche look for another home victory on Saturday night as they welcome the Minnesota Wild to town.
The Wild look to keep their momentum moving forward as they take to the road to face off against the Avalanche in Denver on Saturday night and with a victory they will move seven games clear of the .500 mark and claim their fifth win in their last six tries. Minnesota is starting to get healthy and are looking like the team we saw last season that took the league by storm and raced out to one of the best records before a late season collapse derailed their hopes of winning the Cup, but perhaps they are reversing course this season and are through their hardships already and will peak on their way towards the postseason. Devan Dubnyk is expected to get the nod here as he will face off against Jonathan Bernier who is slated to get the nod here after blanking the Blues Jackets on Thursday.
The Avalanche meanwhile have won their last four home games and have given their fans something to be excited about but they have struggled mightily over the last couple of seasons overall and have just 11 wins in their last 55 tries against Western Conference foes and until they can generate some consistency against the league’s better teams they are going to be in a heap of trouble. Colorado is still recovering after the debacle involving their coaching staff prior to last season’s puck drop and while things are getting better and they have ripped off eight wins in their last 11 tries in Denver I still think they are a tier behind where Minnesota is and that should be evident tonight.
The Wild are 1-4 in their last five road games and 4-1 in their last five overall while the Avs are 6-18 in their last 24 Saturday games and 34-70 in their last 104 overall. Minnesota to me is a step ahead of the Avs and at a decent price they get it done and pad our bank roll.
