The Wild head into Colorado on Monday looking to extend their winning streak to four games while the Avs need to start finding ways to win to get out of the Central division basement.
The Minnesota Wild look to stay hot as they take to the road to battle the Avalanche but they will have to do so without starting goaltender Devan Dubnyk who will give way to Darcy Kuemper in this one who returns to the cage after a lengthy stint on the bench. The Wild are one of the better teams in the West but they need to do a better job of staying consistent and avoid little speed bumps in their season and thanks to a three game winning streak they sit in third in the Central and are just two points back of the second place Blues. Kuemper is no stranger to starter's minutes as he was the team's go to guy for most of last season before they traded for Dubnyk so it should come as no surprise they have confidence in going with him and in a match up against either Semyon Varlamov or Reto Berra it is safe to say that Kuemper gives his team a great chance to win.
The Avalanche head into Monday night's contest at home against the Wild sitting in the basement of the league's most competitive division but even so they are just a single point away from possessing the league's worst record. Colorado is in a tough spot right now as they had an off year in 2014-15 and missed the playoffs but just a season prior they shocked everyone by going from worst to first and while many expected a spot somewhere in the middle this year even they are left disappointed. Colorado is a better team than their record indicates but in this spot against a Minnesota team who is on a roll right now I can't pull the trigger as I believe the better team gets the win here.
