The New York Islanders are looking for back to back wins after a 4-3 SO victory against visiting Detroit on Saturday. Gustav Nyquist and Trevor Daley scored in the first for Detroit with Thomas Vanek lighting the lamp in the third. Vanek also gave the Red Wings a pair of assists and Jonathan Bernier giving up three goals on 48 shots.
The Islanders offense came off the sticks of Anthony Beauvillier, Mathew Barzal and Casey Cizikas. Barzal scored the only goal of the SO and added a helper while Thomas Greiss stopping 18 shots to get the win for the NY Islanders.
The Colorado Avalanche outscored visiting Dallas 6-4 Saturday to avoid a four game slide. Tyler Seguin paced the Stars with a pair of goals with Esa Lindell and Jamie Benn lighting the lamp as well. Alexander Radulov logged two helper for Dallas who saw Anton Khudobin stop 17-20 shots in relief with Ben Bishop Bishop absorbing the loss with two goals allowed on 16 shots.
Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog each lit the lamp twice for Colorado with Matt Calvert and Nathan MacKinnon also reaching the scoring column.
MacKinnon also posted three assists and Rantanen assisted twice to lift Colorado and the 38 saves of Semyon Varlamov to the win.
