The New York Islanders visit the Colorado Avalanche for a Monday NHL tilt.

The New York Islanders are looking for back to back wins after a 4-3 SO victory against visiting Detroit on Saturday. Gustav Nyquist and Trevor Daley scored in the first for Detroit with Thomas Vanek lighting the lamp in the third. Vanek also gave the Red Wings a pair of assists and Jonathan Bernier giving up three goals on 48 shots.

The Islanders offense came off the sticks of Anthony Beauvillier, Mathew Barzal and Casey Cizikas. Barzal scored the only goal of the SO and added a helper while Thomas Greiss stopping 18 shots to get the win for the NY Islanders.

The Colorado Avalanche outscored visiting Dallas 6-4 Saturday to avoid a four game slide. Tyler Seguin paced the Stars with a pair of goals with Esa Lindell and Jamie Benn lighting the lamp as well. Alexander Radulov logged two helper for Dallas who saw Anton Khudobin stop 17-20 shots in relief with Ben Bishop Bishop absorbing the loss with two goals allowed on 16 shots.

Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog each lit the lamp twice for Colorado with Matt Calvert and Nathan MacKinnon also reaching the scoring column.

MacKinnon also posted three assists and Rantanen assisted twice to lift Colorado and the 38 saves of Semyon Varlamov to the win.

Islanders are 0-7 in their last 7 vs. Central and under is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 games following a win and Islanders are 1-8 in their last 9 Monday games. Over is 6-0 in Avalanche last 6 overall and over is 7-1 in Avalanche last 8 vs. a team with a losing record and under is 7-1-2 in Avalanche last 10 Monday games. Islanders are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Colorado and home team is 17-4-1 in the last 22 meetings and under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Colorado.

The under has been a moneymaker in this matchup but Colorado has been scoring and allowing goals so a small wager on the over…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
