New York Rangers visit the Pepsi Center to take the ice with the Colorado Avalanche in Saturday afternoon NHL action.
The New York Rangers have won back to back contests after dropping three straight while getting outscored 14-5. New York comes off of a 4-3 victory versus the visiting Buffalo Sabres whose struggling offense received goals from Kyle Okposo, Justin Falk and Rasmus Ristolainen. Jack Eichel gave the Sabres two assists but Robin Lehner allowed four goals on 34 shots.
The Rangers received a pair of goals off the stick of Rick Nash who opened the scoring in the first and gave the team a 3-2 lead in the third. JT Miller scored in the second and Pavel Buchnevich tallied the game winner with just under four minutes remaining in regulation to lift New York and the 34 saves of Henrik Lundqvist to the victory.
To say the Colorado Avalanche are improved over recent years is an understatement. Colorado is one of the hottest teams in the game with eight consecutive victories where both ends of the ice have contributed. The Avalanche defeated the San Jose 5-3 on Thursday where the Sharks saw Timo Meier, Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Joe Thornton score.
Nathan MacKinnon led the Avalanche offensive explosion with the first two goals of the game with Carl Soderberg, Mikko Rantanen and Matt Nieto joining the scoring column. Rantanen and Blake Comeau gave the Avs two helpers each to make the 45 saves of Jonathan Bernier stand up. Martin Jones absorbed the loss for San Jose with five goals allowed on 22 shots.
Over is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 overall and over is 6-1 in Rangers last 7 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game and Rangers are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. Central. Avalanche are 8-0 in their last 8 overall and Avalanche are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and Avalanche are 7-0 in their last 7 games following a win. Road team is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
Colorado is hotter then we’ve seen them in recent memory so I’m looking at the Avs or the over…
