The Ottawa Senators go on the road to take the ice at the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. Ottawa ended a three game home stand  with a 5-4 defeat versus the Vegas Golden Knights where the defense couldn’t get stops.

Erik Haula paced the Golden Knights attack with a pair of goals with Alex Tuch, William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault joining in on the scoring. Marchessault also added a pair of helpers to help Maxim Lagace to his first career NHL win with a 24 save performance.

The Senators offense saw goals off the sticks of Alex Burrows, Ryan Dzingel, Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone while Derick Brassard logged a pair of helpers but Craig Anderson was charged with all five goals including three power play tallies.

The Colorado Avalanche return home from consecutive road contests to face the Ottawa Senators on Friday. Colorado had won three in a row before dropping a 6-4 decision at the New York Islanders on Sunday night.

The Islanders cut lose at the offensive end with Nick Leddy and Jordan Eberle each scored two times  with Scott Mayfield and Johnny Boychuk also finding the scoring column. Rookie Mathew Barzal gave New York five assists to make a winner of Thomas Greiss and his 31 saves.

The Avalanche were also strong at the offensive end of the ice as Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog found the back of the net and Alexander Kerfoot scored twice in the final 30 seconds of regulation. Jonathan Bernier absorbed the loss for the Avs with all six goals allowed on 28 shots.

Over is 2-0-2 in Senators last 4 Friday games and over is 5-1 in Senators last 6 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 5-1-2 in Senators last 8 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. Over is 4-0 in Avalanche last 4 home games and over is 5-0-1 in Avalanche last 6 games playing on 3 or more days rest and over is 4-0 in Avalanche last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Colorado and over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Senators are 4-9 in the last 13 meetings.

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
