The Sharks are looking to end their two game slide as they head into Denver on Sunday to battle the underachieving Avalanche.
The Sharks continue to be the most frustrating team in the NHL as they seem to always to go on multi game losing and winning streaks in sequence and right now they appear to be in one of their swoons as they have dropped back to back contests. On the year, the Sharks are 5-5 overall and 3-3 on the road putting them in fourth place in the Pacific division but are three points up on the Avalanche who have stumbled out of the gate and will look to stop the bleeding before falling too far behind in the very tough Central division. Martin Jones is expected to get the start as he will go up against Semyon Varlamov.
The Avs have had a bit of a tough start to the year after heading in with high expectations and Patrick Roy knows he needs to get his guys back on track or else they will find themselves with a huge mountain to climb in the division. Colorado isn't a bad team but do have some gaping holes that need to be filled before they can be considered a Western Conference power house again and that may have to occur through the draft as they won't want to part with any of their young, talented forwards. This is a tough one to call as the Sharks seem to always win when we fade them and let us down when we back them while the Avalanche are starting to follow that same trend. My instincts are telling me San Jose will get the victory and while I am tempted to flop because of it I will give it a go in this one.
