The Sharks look to build on their big win on the road against the Blues as they head into Colorado to face off against the Avalanche.
The San Jose Sharks continue to be a source of frustration when it comes to previewing games as they always seem to defy the trends and logic but all things considered they are in a great position to get into the playoffs and could very well chase down the Kings for the Pacific division crown. San Jose has a nice balance up front and a decent blue line and while they could afford an upgrade in the crease with Martin Jones being up and down I think if anything they will bring in another piece to the blue line to add to the group that includes Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Brent Burns. Jones is expected to get the call in the San Jose crease in this one as he will go up against Calvin Pickard who has been confirmed as the Avs starter.
Colorado heads into this game sitting in fifth place in the Central division and occupy one of the Western Conference wild card spots and with a 13 point deficit staring at them in the division to land one of the three automatic entries they can pretty well kiss that pipedream goodbye. The Avs came into this season as a team that was expected to compete for a playoff spot and they sit right near that line with 20 games remaining and it’ll be interesting to see what Joe Sakic and the management group decide to do at the trade deadline as they could just be a single addition away from contending. This is a tough game as the Sharks should get the victory but that never seems to work out so instead I am siding with the home side who are also in desperate need of a win.
