The Line: Vegas Golden Knights -125 / Colorado Avalanche +105 -- Over/Under: 6
The Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche meet Monday in NHL action at the Pepsi Center.
The Vegas Golden Knights could use a big road win here after losing seven of their last 10 games. The Vegas Golden Knights are averaging 2.9 goals per game and are scoring on 17.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Jonathan Marchessault leads Vegas with 19 goals, Alex Tuch has 26 assists and Shea Theodore has 142 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 82.6 percent of their opponents power plays. Marc-Andre Fleury has given up 132 goals on 1,435 shots faced and Malcolm Subban has allowed 23 goals on 258 shots. The Vegas Golden Knights have allowed three or more goals in 10 of their last 13 games.
The Colorado Avalanche could also use a win after losing 10 of their last 12 games. The Colorado Avalanche are averaging 3.2 goals per game and are scoring on 22.4 percent of their power play opportunities. Gabriel Landeskog leads Colorado with 30 goals, Mikko Rantanen has 52 assists and Nathan MacKinnon has 251 shots on goal. Defensively, the Colorado Avalanche are allowing 3.3 goals per game and are killing 76.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Semyon Varlamov has given up 106 goals on 1,129 shots faced and Philipp Grubauer has allowed 70 goals on 636 shots. The Colorado Avalanche have allowed three or more goals in 10 of their last 13 games.
The Golden Knights are 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road favorite, 2-5 in their last 7 games as a favorite and 3-7 in their last 10 overall. The Avalanche are 16-36 in their last 52 games as an underdog, 1-7 in their last 8 games playing on 1 days rest and 6-23 in their last 29 overall. The over is 5-0 in Golden Knights last 5 overall. The over is 5-1 in Avalanche last 6 games as a favorite. The home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the favorite is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
I'm not trying to get behind either one of these teams in their current form right now, but the Colorado Avalanche are dead last in terms of money made this season, as there's not a team in the NHL that has burned more money up to this point. The Vegas Golden Knights have been great lately as a road favorite and have these stretches where they show flashes of being the team they were a year ago. Getting this cheap price to fade the Avalanche seems like a steal.
