The Winnipeg Jets look to build on their big time victory over the Stars last night as they take to the road to face off against the Colorado Avalanche.
The Jets netted a huge victory on home ice against one of the teams many have a playoff contender in the Dallas Stars as they scored a 4-1 final in what was probably their best result of the season to date. Winnipeg has the personnel to stay competitive in the Western Conference this season as they have a nice balance of four lines up front and a strong top four defensive core and that is without the services of Jacob Trouba who is holding out. Winnipeg will be in tough here though as they are in a back to back with a flight in between and will get a well rested Avs side that has looked great so far and will be looking to fill the scoresheet with their top line.
The Avalanche head into Friday night’s game sporting a 3-2 record but have some key victories in that span and have won their only game on home ice so far in what has been a light schedule for them through the first two weeks. The Avs aren’t considered to be a top end team in the Pacific division this season but they have a very strong top six in terms of their forward unit and should be more than capable of holding their own against the handful of middle of the pack teams that make up parts of the Western Conference. Semyon Varlamov will likely get the start here as he is expected to match up against Mike Hutchinson.
The Jets are 1-4 in their last five against the Central and 17-48 in their last 65 games in the second half of a back to back while the Avs are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 3-8 in their last 11 overall. Colorado is a very dangerous team up front and get the Jets in a back to back and on the road and I think they cruise to an easy win.
